A BRIEF history of BROACHDALE
My interest in dogs started as a child as we had a number of pets including two dogs, Trixie and Spot, mother and daughter.
My first experience of Blue Roan Cockers was a nice bitch called Debbie, who belonged to a customer when I was an apprentice carpet and soft furnishing fitter. She used to greet me at the front door and follow me round the house and stay with me until the job was finished. I also, in those days, used to pass a pet shop where puppies were in the window for sale. My first pet cocker named Becky, was given to me in 1977 and she was approximately one year old. She was bred out of a local pet to a dog called Bitcon Blue Piper of Lingrise, owned by Mrs Joyce Brown at Langtoft. Broachdale, my affix is a nice wooded area to the north east of Langtoft, just across the road from Mrs Brown’s farm. Becky’s litter of puppies were born in 1980 and a black and white ticked bitch was retained called Pinky because of her pink nose and feet at birth! She produced two litters, the first producing one orange and white dog, Rocky and a nice little orange roan dog called Rambo, who was the first to be shown. The second litter included a dark blue, Ellie and a black and white ticked called Snoopy. At this point the line was split into two. The dark line being my major most successful line, eventually produced Cindy and the light line which later produced Broachdale Valentine Girl, Lorna We are currently on our 8th generation.
